Bigna Lenggenhager
Bigna Lenggenhager is currently professor at the University of Zurich and head of the research group Cognitive Neuropsychology with focus Body, Self and Plasticity. She did her PhD in Neuroscience at the EPFL in Lausanne. After a two postdoctoral stays in Rome and Bern, she was a junior group leader at the University Hospital Zurich. Her work focuses on the empirical investigation of multi sensory integration mechanisms, the bodily self, and embodied cognition in both pathology and health. She combines psychological and neuroscientific tools with virtual and augmented reality techniques.
Marc Ernst
Marc Ernst is Chair of the Applied Cognitive Psychology Group at Ulm University, Germany. His scientific interest is in human multisensory perception, sensorimotor integration, men-machine interaction, and VR. That is, his scientific work focuses on developing empirically grounded,
computational models of human perception and behaviour in close interaction with their application to intelligent technical systems for predicting and benchmarking human performance in naturalistic, interactive environments. He has published well over 100 articles, chapters, and conference proceedings. He is editor-in-chief for the journal Multisensory Research, editor for several journals including the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance, the Journal of Vision, and the ACM Transactions on Applied Perception, and he is co-edior of the Springer book series on Touch and Haptic systems. He was involved in several international collaborative grants, including the EU Project. He is founding member and one of the past presidents (2010-2014) of the EuroHaptics Society. Furthermore, he is a member and vice-chair of the Technical Committee in Haptics, and the Vision Science Society.
Kai Vogeley
Kai Vogeley is a psychiatrist with a deep interest in communication and interaction. He is professor at the University Hospital Cologne and head of the research group Social Cognition with affiliations at the Department of Psychiatry at the University Hospital Cologne and the Institute for Neuroscience and Medicine, Cognitive Neuroscience (INM3) at the Research Center Juelich. His work focuses on the empirical investigation of psychological processes and neural mechanisms of nonverbal communication, both under conditions of mental health and under different psychopathological conditions with a focus on autism besides schizophrenia and depression employing psychological experiments, neuroscientific measures and virtual reality techniques. He served as president of the German society of Cognitive Science (2014-2016). His work has been nationally and internationally funded (BMBF, DFG, ESF, EC). He is currently coordinator of the project VIRTUALTIMES (Horizon 2020, FET Proactive in which time experience is studied and modified using virtual reality techniques.
José Gutiérrez Maldonado
José Gutiérrez Maldonado is professor at the University of Barcelona since 1994. Member of the Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychobiology, Section of Personality, Evaluation and Psychological Treatments (of which he has been director from 2004 to 2012) and the Neurosciences Institute of the same university. He is director of the Virtual Reality Laboratory of the Faculty of Psychology of that university since 2008 and of the PhD program in Clinical and Health Psychology since 2007. He is principal investigator of the research group “VR-PSY Lab. Research group on applications of Virtual Reality and other new technologies in clinical and health psychology”. He has been principal investigator of several competitive projects funded by both public and private entities. He is member of the International Association of CyberPsychology, Training, and Rehabilitation. He has been member of the scientific committee in several editions of the CyberTherapy and CyberPsychology Conference. In 2016 he received the Lifetime Achievement Award (Interactive Media Institute, California). He has been member of the evaluation committee of research projects of the Ministry of Science and Innovation of Spain in several editions, as well as other international agencies. He has published more than 150 papers in scientific journals.
